Role overview
U-Haul is looking for a dependable, hands-on individual who wants to build practical technical skills in the role of Hitch Service Technician. In this position, you will work in a U-Haul Moving and Storage Center lot and use your know-how to deliver a strong customer experience.
The company’s approach is to hire quickly and pay quickly. Candidates can complete two in-person working interviews and receive pay for each one. A $100 hiring bonus is also available. In addition, a $300 cash bonus is paid after completing U-Haul Equipment Inspection and Verification as part of the 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program at retail stores.
Primary duties
- Learn U-Haul’s towing package options and explain them clearly to customers.
- Match customers with the appropriate tow package and install it on their vehicles.
- Deliver high-quality service and day-to-day support to U-Haul customers.
- Take on additional tasks as needed.
- Continue developing skills through ongoing training with U-Haul University.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license and a strong driving record are required.
- Some experience with basic wiring and hand tools or power tools is needed.
- A high school diploma or an equivalent credential is required.
Work environment
This job includes moderate safety-related risks or discomforts. You may work near moving equipment, machinery, fumes, or irritating chemicals, and may need to wear protective items such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.
Physical demands
The role involves physical activity such as standing for long periods, working both indoors and outdoors, moving through work areas, reaching for tools, and lifting at least 50 lbs with or without assistance.
