About Native and the Insights Team
Native has been operating for over ten years, maintaining a startup spirit of agility and efficiency. We manage a marketplace that links students, Students' Unions, universities, and advertisers, enhancing student engagement, aiding union funding sustainability, and offering advertisers measurable access to student audiences. The Insights division transforms raw survey, behavioural, and platform data into valuable research and segmentation for brand partners.
Role Summary
This position is a comprehensive data analyst role, dealing with a variety of data sources and analysis types, including survey research, data cleaning, SQL querying, and visualization. You will work directly on projects that impact commercial decisions, developing insights used by national and local advertisers.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert raw data into insightful analysis presented through charts and written reports.
- Cleanse, weight, and interpret survey data from various studies and Campus Voice.
- Execute complex SQL queries against BigQuery to prepare datasets for analysis.
- Create clear, compelling visualizations for reports and commercial presentations.
- Analyze survey and behavioural data against student segments to inform advertising strategies.
- Maintain survey tools, documentation, and analytic notebooks to enable reproducible research.
- Collaborate with engineers to improve data pipelines and identify inefficiencies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven academic excellence or notable achievements demonstrating strong analytical ability.
- Solid grasp of statistical concepts including sample bias, weighting, significance testing, and regression interpretation.
- Strong commercial awareness about brand marketing and insight value.
- Experience managing and cleaning real-world messy datasets.
- Proficiency in Python, especially pandas and numpy, with the ability to write reusable code.
- Competence in SQL, able to handle duplicates, NULL values, and complex joins efficiently.
- Strong communication skills for delivering insights in clear terms and visuals.
- Self-driven to acquire new tools such as BigQuery, dbt, various plotting libraries, git, and survey platforms.
- Bonus: Experience completing end-to-end analysis projects like dashboards, reports, or models used by teams.
Engagement and Career Progression
This role is initially a six-month contract designed as a trial period for permanent employment. Successful candidates will be promoted into a confirmed full-time position. The role offers exposure to a wide range of analysis activities and high-impact work from the start.
Work Location and Schedule
The position is based in London, requiring attendance at the office four days per week with one optional remote day. The team values rapid decision-making facilitated by frequent face-to-face interaction.
