Job Overview
As a Glove & Barrier Line Mechanic, your primary responsibility is to construct, maintain, and service overhead electrical lines and related equipment safely and efficiently, meeting customer and network standards. You will develop work plans, operate electrical equipment on networks up to 33kV, overhaul pole hardware on networks up to 110kV, and handle installation and replacement of pole structures and conductors.
Key Duties
- Lead and assist your team in ensuring safe, effective, and quality construction and maintenance of overhead electrical systems.
- Plan and coordinate construction and servicing work including completing Work Traffic Control (WTC) assessments, audits, and quality inspections.
- Ensure the suitability and compliance of plant, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Scope and price jobs, allocate resources including labour, plant, and materials.
- Interpret technical drawings and provide guidance to team members.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Identify cost-saving measures and areas for continuous improvement.
- Communicate work progress and performance effectively.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Must hold ERWB Registration as a Glove & Barrier Line Mechanic.
- Possess a New Zealand Driving Licence; Heavy Traffic Licence is advantageous.
- Demonstrated competencies specific to the electrical network.
- Proven practical experience working on electrical lines and networks.
- Strong commitment to upholding health, safety, quality, and environmental policies.
- Demonstrated excellent safety record.
- Effective verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and support colleagues.
