Global Head of Procurement (Advanced Materials)

About the Role

A leading global industrial technology and advanced materials company is searching for a seasoned procurement leader to oversee its global procurement and strategic sourcing activities. This executive role is a new addition to the leadership team, tasked with designing and implementing a global procurement approach that enhances supply chain robustness, enables corporate growth, and ensures durable access to essential materials, specialized equipment, and key suppliers worldwide.

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, this position involves collaboration with manufacturing, engineering, research and development, finance, and commercial teams across various regions. The goal is to establish a diversified global supplier network while mitigating supply chain risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive global procurement and sourcing plan.
• Identify, assess, and cultivate strategic supplier partnerships across North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia.
• Establish a robust global supply base encompassing critical materials, specialized equipment, and engineered components.
• Oversee supplier assessments, contract negotiations, and formation of enduring strategic alliances.
• Lead procurement transformation projects aimed at enhancing cost efficiency, business continuity, and operational resilience.
• Formulate supplier risk mitigation tactics, including dual sourcing and geographic diversification.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and senior leadership on strategic sourcing decisions.
• Undertake international travel approximately 40–50% of the time to engage with suppliers and manufacturing sites.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field; advanced degrees such as an MBA, Master's, or PhD are favorable.
• Over 15 years of progressive leadership experience in procurement or supply chain management within global manufacturing settings.
• Demonstrated expertise in crafting international sourcing strategies for technically complex products, materials, or industrial equipment.
• Strong business understanding with proven success in negotiating strategic supplier contracts.
• Experience leading cross-functional, multinational teams and stakeholder groups.
• Capability to function effectively in highly technical manufacturing environments.
