About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Garment Technical Manager to join our expanding e-commerce fashion brand within Landmark Group in Bangalore. This role involves not only overseeing garment fit and construction but also establishing a high standard for technical excellence, managing a team of garment technicians, optimizing processes, and developing data-driven dashboards to improve speed, quality, and efficiency throughout the product development cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead garment fit sessions and give expert technical advice on fit, grading, construction, and workmanship.
- Review and approve technical documentation including Tech Packs, measurement specs, grading, and construction details.
- Assess proto, fit, size set, pre-production (PP), and top of production (TOP) samples, ensuring they meet brand quality standards.
- Collaborate with Design, Sourcing, Merchandising, Quality Assurance, and Vendor teams to ensure products are ready for production.
- Identify and resolve garment fitting, construction, and manufacturing challenges through root cause analysis.
- Maintain consistent fit, quality, and workmanship across all product categories.
- Lead and mentor the Garment Technician team, allocate workloads, monitor productivity, and oversee timely approvals.
- Conduct regular training and knowledge-sharing sessions to build team capabilities.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous enhancement.
- Create, implement, and standardize standard operating procedures (SOPs) for garment development and approval processes.
- Drive initiatives to shorten development lead times and increase first-time-right sample approvals.
- Establish governance for sample tracking, fit approvals, and technical documentation management.
- Work with cross-functional partners to enhance overall product development efficiency.
- Develop and manage dashboards to track sample approval timelines, fit pass rates, vendor performance, quality defects, development turnaround times, first-pass approval percentages, and approval bottlenecks.
- Utilize tools like Excel, Power BI, or Google Sheets to generate insightful reports and present technical performance updates to leadership weekly and monthly.
- Provide technical support to vendors and manufacturers, perform vendor capability evaluations, conduct technical audits, and lead training programs to boost quality standards.
- Support onboarding of new suppliers to ensure compliance and quality.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Fashion Technology, Apparel Production, Garment Manufacturing, Textile Engineering, or related disciplines.
- 8 to 12 years of relevant experience as a Garment Technician or Technologist within apparel retail or e-commerce sectors.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing and leading a technical team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of garment construction, pattern making and grading, fit evaluation, fabrics and trims, and apparel manufacturing processes.
- Experience working with menswear, womenswear, kidswear, or multi-category apparel lines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
- Knowledge of PLM systems and digital tech packs is advantageous.
