Role Overview and Responsibilities

• Continuously enhance and scale backend services powering the app.
• Manage and maintain the AWS infrastructure to ensure smooth operations.
• Develop and upkeep the proprietary content management system, which is the core of the application.
• Integrate and work with Opta’s football data feeds as the primary source.
• Deploy updates efficiently via CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Take ownership of maintaining high code quality through regular refactoring and optimization.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to build impactful features used daily by millions of football fans.

Candidate Profile

• A passionate appreciation for football and coding — embracing both the emotional highs and challenges.
• A proactive problem-solver who is determined to make functionalities work seamlessly.
• Thrives under high-pressure conditions and uses them to deliver exceptional work.
• At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience (excluding internships).
• Enjoys contributing to and discussing software infrastructure design and planning.
• Proven track record of designing, testing, and launching production-level applications using JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with Go for building and deploying production-ready applications.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with one or more database technologies such as MySQL, Redis, or MongoDB.
• Prefers office-based collaboration and values teamwork in person.
