About the Role
Ma'aden Barrick Copper Company (MBCC) is on the lookout for a competent Fire Fighter to enhance the strength of our Emergency Response Team (ERT). Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to incidents including fires, rescues, hazardous materials emergencies, medical situations across surface and underground sites.
- Execute firefighting tasks involving structural, industrial, vehicle, and wildland fires according to established protocols.
- Engage in underground mine rescue and evacuation operations.
- Provide emergency support during critical activities like shutdowns, confined space tasks, and hot work.
- Maintain emergency readiness including shift work, on-call standby, and prompt response to emergencies.
- Deliver First Aid and Basic Life Support until advanced medical assistance arrives.
- Inspect and operate firefighting vehicles, pumps, foam systems, hoses, and rescue gear ensuring all equipment remains functional and ready for immediate deployment.
- Report equipment defects and participate in preventive maintenance.
- Carry out cleaning, testing, and upkeep of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
- Perform fire safety inspections across various facilities, identify hazards, and recommend corrective measures.
- Participate actively in fire prevention, impairment management programs, and emergency planning activities.
- Engage consistently in emergency drills, training exercises, and support fire safety awareness initiatives.
- Maintain accurate incident reports, equipment logs, and training documentation while effectively communicating with incident command and other departments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Mining, Process Plant, Maintenance, Security, Medical, and external agencies for coordinated emergency responses.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Occupational Health & Safety or related disciplines.
- Certified Firefighter I & II or equivalent industrial firefighting certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Current certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Physically fit and medically cleared to perform firefighting duties and operate SCBA.
- Preferred certifications: Fire Truck Driver/Operator, HazMat Operations, Technical Rescue, Underground Mine Rescue.
Experience & Skills
- At least two years of experience in industrial firefighting or emergency response in mining, oil & gas, or similar high-risk sectors.
- Proficiency in operating firefighting trucks, pumps, rescue tools, and SCBA.
- Understanding of industrial fire protection systems, firefighting strategies, and Incident Command System (ICS).
- Participation in emergency preparedness drills and incident management.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with fluency in English; Arabic knowledge is advantageous.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
- Additional experience in underground mine rescue, ambulance or HazMat vehicle operation, and fire system testing is a plus.
