Job Purpose
The Financial Accountant will ensure the accuracy of IA's transactional financial data. Key accountabilities include managing the general and subsidiary ledgers, overseeing external reporting and statutory compliance, handling payroll processing, and maintaining data integrity for management reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain annual cash flow statements and perform daily bank reconciliations.
- Support budget preparation and forecasting activities.
- Assist in managing bank guarantees and related banking tasks.
- Collaborate with the Financial Controller on managing annual insurance and workers' compensation.
- Oversee monthly payroll processing, including superannuation and PAYG obligations.
- Manage payroll tax, conduct year-end payroll tax reconciliations, and finalize Single Touch Payroll submissions.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and contribute to month-end and year-end reporting, including consolidated statements and board packs.
- Work alongside the Financial Controller liaising with tax accountants and banking representatives.
- Supervise project and overhead expense management and control Xero expense payment workflows.
- Manage accounts payable processes including payment runs.
- Conduct annual reconciliations and prepare payroll and company year-end board reports.
- Provide training and coaching to Assistant Accountants.
- Perform additional finance and HR activities as assigned.
- Generate ad hoc reports for the leadership team.
- Prepare, calculate, and facilitate payments related to all business taxes such as BAS, corporate and personal PAYG, Workers Compensation, Payroll Tax, and GST on a monthly and annual basis.
- Conduct month-end tasks including accruals, journal entries, fixed asset and depreciation scheduling, and reconciliation of ledgers including accounts payable, receivable, and WIP.
- Deliver monthly financial reports and conduct reviews of profit and loss statements, maintaining internal controls.
- Assist Accounts Payable in resolving related inquiries and issues.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Progressing towards professional accounting qualifications such as CA or CPA.
- Proficient with advanced computer software skills including Excel and financial reporting/analysis tools.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on meeting deadlines and processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High personal integrity, credibility, and aptitude to collaborate within a values-driven organisation.
