Finance Data Analyst

Overview

The Finance Data Analyst is tasked with overseeing and implementing system and procedural changes within the Finance Division, concentrating especially on salary deduction schemes and associated operational workflows. The position serves as a key contributor, delivering expert data analysis, engaging stakeholders, and providing operational support to guarantee effective delivery of change initiatives while equipping the Finance Division with robust technical and analytical assistance.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and sustain strong partnerships with principal stakeholders within Finance and broader business units, including unions, employers, payroll teams, and external vendors.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders on transformational projects to completely understand their requirements, limitations, and expectations, translating these into clear, actionable data analysis outputs.
• Ensure crucial organizational projects impacting Finance are well-planned with defined scope, schedules, and roles prior to kickoff.
• Communicate progress regularly, continuously identifying, assessing, prioritizing, and escalating risks, issues, and dependencies as needed.
• Create and maintain high-standard management information (MI) and reports to assist decision-making, monitor performance, and demonstrate change impact.
• Provide prompt and thorough technical support to the Finance Department on queries related to synchronization failures, hardware, system access, user education, and other operational functions, coordinating with Finance, Technology, and Operations teams.
• Lead comprehensive data analysis efforts for onboarding new schemes, engaging directly with unions, employers, payroll departments, and third parties to capture and verify data needs and operational criteria.
• Assess scheme suitability through detailed data profiling and analysis, identifying data quality problems, anomalies, gaps, and risks affecting operational efficiency, compliance, or customer outcomes.
• Define detailed rules for data transformation, validation, and loading to achieve robust, efficient, and controlled processing in partnership with Technology and Operations teams.
• Review current scheme datasets and administrative processes to detect operational inefficiencies, control vulnerabilities, and service risks caused by data, process, or system limitations.
• Analyze historical data flows and manual workarounds to understand their effect on scalability, accuracy, timeliness, and service quality, producing clear documentation.
• Propose data-driven enhancements to processes, controls, and systems, developing structured business requirements, impact analyses, and supporting documents.
• Collaborate with Technology, Change, and PMO teams to implement automation and data-centric process improvements enhancing efficiency, control, and customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to designing and upholding standardized data, onboarding, and operational practices to ensure uniform, scalable, and repeatable scheme management organization-wide.
• Assess and approve data-related project documents including business requirements, change requests, solution designs, test plans, user acceptance testing results, and implementation guides.
• Support change adoption by reviewing user readiness, training necessities, communication plans, and post-go-live assistance.
• Align work practices with the organization's standard project and change management framework in cooperation with PMO.
• Establish metrics for success, monitor progress, and report on outcomes, benefits, and lessons learned.
• Document meetings and prepare structured quarterly reflections to enhance future Finance Division change approaches.
• Deliver structured reports on operations, progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders as needed.
• Comply with risk controls and regulatory standards pertinent to the role and maintain awareness of commercial and scheme operational contexts.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Strong business insight with a comprehensive understanding of organizational challenges.
• Hands-on experience working with ETL processes and data integration.
• Proficiency with Microsoft data and reporting tools such as Power BI, advanced Excel, and Office 365.
• Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure services like Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Data Lake.
• Knowledge and application of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
• Familiarity with project management methods, tools, and lifecycle stages.
• Excellent communication capabilities including active listening and clear messaging tailored to diverse audiences.
• Ability to build and sustain strong professional relationships and to influence stakeholders to work towards common goals.
• Strong organizational aptitude and problem-solving skills with root cause analysis ability.

• Certification or formal designation in change management is a plus.
