About the Role
Based in Taunton, this full-time permanent position seeks a commercially focused finance expert to manage accounting, management accounts, and financial reporting for select units within the division. You will collaborate closely with operational teams, including site managers, to provide precise financial data, uphold strong financial controls, and ensure adherence to procedures. This opportunity allows you to impact business outcomes through insightful reporting and teamwork across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts with comprehensive variance analysis and performance insights for assigned business units.
- Create accurate and timely monthly reporting packages supporting divisional and business reporting needs.
- Oversee monthly CAPEX reporting and forecasting, analyzing results against budgets and investment plans.
- Work alongside Finance Business Partners and operations teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and long-term strategic plans spanning five years.
- Aggregate divisional budgets and forecasts for submission to Central Finance.
- Conduct and review balance sheet reconciliations ensuring compliance with group policies and controls.
- Assist during year-end audits by providing thorough documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
- Deliver insightful financial analysis to inform commercial decisions across the business.
- Manage monthly customer invoicing with precision and promptness.
- Support the Divisional Finance Team ensuring continuity during absences.
- Participate in ad hoc financial analyses, projects, and business initiatives as required.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree holder or part-qualified accountant status (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT).
- Hands-on experience in management accounting, including closing period-end tasks, handling purchase orders, and sales invoicing.
- Proficient with advanced Excel and possess strong IT skills overall.
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communicator capable of building strong relationships across finance, operations, and commercial teams.
- Proactive attitude, adaptable and eager to acquire new skills.
- Capable of working independently, resolving problems efficiently, and maintaining composure under pressure.
- Experience in service, logistics, or waste management sectors is a plus.
