Expert - Ocean Freight and Airfreight Pricing (OFR, HoP)

Overview

This role focuses on supporting an enhanced global tender process specifically for airfreight and ocean freight products. The expert manages the detailed technical translation of customer pricing formats and collaborates with country teams to gather rates. The position emphasizes delivering customer value propositions, translating bid strategies, and ensuring compliance with network requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Gatekeeper throughout the bidding lifecycle for identified airfreight and ocean freight opportunities.
• Handle incoming Request for Quotations (RFQs) and collaborate with stakeholders to prepare, finalize, and submit timely and competitive tender responses.
• Coordinate with country and regional pricing teams to verify and validate all bid responses for accuracy and compliance with customer demands.
• Translate and apply CPT-IPT-CPT methodologies in bid execution.
• Analyze and compare country pricing to benchmark bid effectiveness and optimize customer rates.
• Establish and maintain strong relations with internal teams such as Commercial Owners, Industry Sector Sales (various sectors including Life Sciences, Chemicals, Automotive, etc.), Account and Product Management.
• Stay informed of current products, market trends, and industry developments relevant to freight forwarding.
• Follow up post-submission with Bid Managers to document bid results and lessons learned.
• Gain in-depth understanding of complex customer requirements involving various transportation modes, sector-specific information, and IT customer solutions.
• Support and document online sourcing activities involving different countries.
• Contribute to the creation and development of technical narratives related to Airfreight and Ocean Freight solutions.
• Conduct internal consistency checks against guidelines and pricing instructions.
• Question pricing proposals in coordination with CACC/ROCC where necessary.
• Provide support during re-bids and final offer phases.
• Validate bids with regional and country teams as needed.
• Perform analyses to assist in walk-away decisions.
• Aid decision-makers during final bid rounds.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts aimed at shortening turnaround times and enhancing quality.
• Collaborate with regional teams to enable competitive and unique airfreight and ocean freight pricing options.
• Provide guidance to account owners for delivering pertinent data and business intelligence essential for pricing instructions.
• Offer proactive advice to Commercial Owners on RFQ strategies prior to bid launches.

Candidate Profile and Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in any discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in airfreight or ocean freight operations.
• Strong understanding of Airfreight and Ocean Freight forwarding businesses, including supply chain logistics.
• Experience operating in complex global environments.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Highly effective time management combined with problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated capability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Solid project management skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
