Estimator - Architectural Steelwork

Role Overview

We are seeking an Estimator specialized in architectural steelwork to join a dynamic business based in Sheffield. This role focuses on pricing bespoke metalwork projects including staircases, balustrades, and other feature steelwork that are pivotal to architectural designs. The Estimator will transform complex architectural concepts into feasible and cost-effective tender submissions, working closely with clients, engineers, designers, and fabrication teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive estimates and tender documents for architectural steelwork projects.
• Analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and tender enquiry documents.
• Perform accurate material take-offs for custom metalwork such as staircases, balustrades, and façades.
• Solicit and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify project risks, uncover opportunities, and devise value engineering strategies during the tender process.
• Facilitate smooth transition of projects from estimation to delivery teams upon successful tender awards.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience estimating within the architectural steelwork or metalwork sector.
• In-depth understanding of bespoke metalwork fabrication processes.
• Competency in interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to produce precise material take-offs and cost breakdowns.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication and installation techniques.
• Desirable: Experience pricing complex architectural features and bespoke packages.
• Desirable: Familiarity with estimating software and digital take-off technology.
• Desirable: Previous collaboration experience with architects, designers, and main contractors.
