İş tanımı
Role overview
This opportunity is for an Engineering Manager to help create and grow a new EdTech product aimed at the corporate learning market. Reporting to the CTO, you will lead three engineering pods and support the delivery of high-quality software while strengthening the engineering culture.
The product team works primarily with TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, AWS, and modern AI technologies. The role is centred on leadership, delivery, and people development, while also collaborating with engineers and Lead Engineers on technical direction and engineering standards.
Why this role stands out
The company is building from an early stage, so this role offers a chance to shape a new product from the ground up. You will work in a setting with close access to senior decision-makers, helping convert ideas into practical product outcomes. The environment encourages thoughtful use of AI and other technologies where they create real value.
This position also gives you the chance to influence a growing global business, contribute to products used at scale, and work with teams across engineering, product, and design. The organisation values long-term growth, continuous learning, and leadership development.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, support, and develop three engineering pods, each guided by an Engineering Lead Engineer.
- Facilitate technical discussions and help steer architectural decisions.
- Work across engineering, product, design, and other business teams to keep roadmap delivery aligned and effective.
- Partner with the CTO to execute the engineering strategy for the Workforce product.
- Coach and mentor Lead Engineers so they can grow as technical leaders and people managers.
- Improve engineering processes, delivery methods, and operational standards over time.
- Contribute to hiring, team planning, succession planning, onboarding, and performance management.
- Promote strong engineering practices, including security, reliability, and maintainability.
What the company is looking for
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering.
- At least 3 years leading engineering teams, including experience developing Lead Engineers or other senior technical contributors.
- Solid knowledge of modern software architecture and engineering best practices.
- Background architecting and shipping complex software products in an agile setting.
- Strong ability to manage stakeholders and communicate clearly with both executive and technical audiences.
- Proven success in building and growing high-performing engineering teams.
- Experience handling delivery across multiple simultaneous initiatives.
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and performance management capability.
- Good problem-solving, organisation, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to balance technical debt, product delivery, and long-term platform investment.
- Comfort leading through influence rather than micromanagement.
Nice-to-have experience
- A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Hands-on commercial exposure to AI tools and concepts, including machine learning and large language models.
- Experience introducing AI-assisted engineering practices such as coding assistants, productivity tools, and AI-enabled delivery workflows, along with governance and measurable improvement tracking.
- Experience in fast-moving product teams where ownership, speed, and experimentation are part of the way of working.
Work style and location
The team is based in Dublin city centre. This is an in-office role, and the expectation is to work from the office at least three days per week. The company values flexibility alongside the benefits of in-person collaboration.
