Engineering Manager - Analytics House

About the Role

The Engineering Manager for Analytics House will play a pivotal role within our global research and development team. This position supports remote work for professionals located in East Coast US, UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Israel.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of engineers by managing both their output and growth.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement through fast, iterative progress enhancing team success.
• Support team members' professional development through consistent one-on-one meetings, career growth plans, performance evaluations, and candid feedback.
• Build future leadership within the team, mentoring tech leads and senior engineers towards management and staff-level roles.
• Maintain technical authority by actively coding, conducting code reviews, and guiding architectural decisions in alignment with senior engineers.
• Enforce engineering excellence through constructive pull-request reviews and oversee a robust release process ensuring scalability and system health.
• Utilize AI-augmented methods personally and encourage the team to integrate AI tools judiciously, maintaining high quality standards.
• Own the team's deliverables including timelines, commitments, and quality benchmarks.
• Implement a disciplined but adaptable cycle of planning, prioritization, and execution in coordination with Technical Product Owners and Product teams.
• Align engineering initiatives with overarching business goals and communicate relevant context to the team.
• Respond effectively to shifting business priorities through re-planning and resource adjustment while sustaining team motivation.
• Lead recruiting efforts by conducting thorough interviews, making prompt decisions, and upholding high hiring standards.
• Serve as a role model among engineering managers by sharing best practices and mentoring peers.
• Communicate clearly with leadership, escalate issues appropriately, and empower senior engineers to take ownership across product areas.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, GTM, Customer Success, and other teams to foster alignment and address challenges constructively.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of engineering practice, including at least 4 years in management roles with active coding participation.
• Proven experience in building cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products, managing services on platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure with responsibility for uptime, cost, and user interface.
• Adoption of an API-first approach ensuring products are functional through APIs beyond traditional UI interactions.
• Advanced expertise in databases including SQL, query tuning, and Google BigQuery.
• Track record of significantly enhancing engineering teams, demonstrated by faster delivery rates, improved technical quality, or higher team capability.
• Strong mastery of the team’s main technology stack, able to write, review, and stay updated on code.
• Well-formed philosophies on high-performing teams, encompassing hiring practices, coaching techniques, performance management, and technical decision-making.
• Excellent decision-making skills under pressure with the ability to communicate transparently and take accountability.
• Direct and effective communication skills, adept at delivering and receiving candid feedback.

• Established experience and viewpoints on integrating AI tools and agent workflows to enhance team productivity and quality.
• Hands-on proficiency with multiple cloud providers.
• Experience scaling teams, processes, or technology systems during organizational growth phases.
