Engineer I

Role Overview

As an Engineer I at St. Regis Hotels & Resorts in Dubai, you will be responsible for responding promptly to guest maintenance requests, ensuring swift resolution of issues concerning tools, kitchen and mechanical equipment. The role involves preventive upkeep including cleaning and lubrication, performing inspections and operating utility shut-offs, managing maintenance inventories, and communicating effectively across shifts to report activities and address problems.

Key Duties

• Attend guest repair requests and resolve maintenance concerns.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on kitchen and mechanical equipment; clean and lubricate as needed.
• Inspect all tools and machines visually for any defects.
• Operate shut-off valves for equipment and building utilities.
• Maintain and replenish maintenance inventory by ordering parts and supplies.
• Communicate daily tasks and issues clearly to other shift teams.
• Demonstrate or acquire knowledge in air conditioning/refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen appliances, vehicles, and energy conservation.
• Handle surface preparation, painting, drywall and wood trim repairs, bulb and A/C filter replacements, and clean repair areas thoroughly.
• Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on plumbing, electrical components, cosmetic items, electronically programmed devices, and guest room equipment.
• Apply Lockout/Tagout procedures before any maintenance work.
• Maintain landscaping and irrigation systems.
• Utilize basic computer skills for scheduling and temperature adjustments.
• Adhere strictly to safety and security protocols; report hazards and incidents promptly.
• Maintain a professional appearance and confidentiality while protecting company assets.
• Engage courteously with guests, anticipating and addressing their service needs professionally.
• Maintain teamwork, listen and appropriately respond to colleagues, and communicate clearly.
• Perform physical tasks safely, including lifting objects up to 50 pounds unassisted and navigating stairs, ramps, and ladders.
• Complete additional reasonable duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D).
• Experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, painting, preferably within hotel engineering or maintenance.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
