About the Role
Join Forth Valley Royal Hospital as a Domestic Assistant, where you will be a key contributor to maintaining a sanitary, safe and inviting environment for patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Your work will be essential in supporting cleanliness, infection control, and overall patient care through housekeeping, cleaning, and catering support across hospital clinical units.
Key Duties
- Perform cleaning and customer service tasks to meet required hygiene and cleanliness standards throughout clinical areas, departments, and public spaces.
- Ensure all spaces are cleaned and maintained in alignment with established procedures and environmental policies.
- Adhere to trained daily cleaning schedules and domestic work techniques.
- Comply with safe clinical and domestic waste disposal procedures.
- Maintain personal hygiene and uphold infection control standards consistently.
- Offer flexible support to team members across various hospital areas based on operation requirements.
- Assist with catering during meal periods, including managing food trolleys and kitchen apparatus.
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Follow all relevant health, safety, and COSHH policies and report any hazards or maintenance issues promptly.
- Safely operate cleaning machinery and equipment as trained.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced hospital setting requiring physical activity, including manual handling and operating cleaning technology. Eligibility to pass the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check is mandatory due to the hospital environment.
Training and Equipment
- Comprehensive training provided for safe and effective use of industrial cleaning equipment such as vacuums, polishers, scrubbers, and buffers.
- Instruction on proper use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment.
- Familiarity with Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) and Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems may be necessary.
- Training on operating kitchen appliances including washing machines, dishwashers, and linen and waste chutes.
