About the Role and Location
JW Marriott Auckland is an upscale hotel set in the heart of Auckland's central business district, offering 286 rooms including 15 suites with views across Auckland CBD. This luxury property emphasizes mindful hospitality encouraging guests to refresh their mind, body, and spirit. The Director of Finance, reporting to the General Manager, will hold a vital executive leadership role to steer financial strategy and ensure business growth and operational successes.
Key Responsibilities
- Steer the hotel's financial strategy including strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and comprehensive business analysis aimed at maximizing profitability and supporting expansion goals.
- Lead the Finance department as a core member of the Executive Committee, ensuring strong financial governance with robust internal controls, handling audits, and sustaining compliance with Marriott's policies and legal standards.
- Act as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership, including the General Manager and ownership group, providing insights and guidance on financial performance and business prospects.
- Oversee financial operations such as accurate reporting, cash flow management, tax compliance, balance sheet accuracy, and implement processes that protect assets and minimize risks.
- Develop and nurture the Finance team through recruitment, training, mentoring, performance evaluation, succession planning, and promoting cross-department collaboration for a high-performing culture.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrable leadership experience at an executive level within an international luxury hotel setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills including communication, leadership, and relationship management.
- Proven commercial insight with expertise in budget management, cost control, and profitability optimization.
- Must have legal working rights in New Zealand or be open to visa sponsorship if selected.
