Role Overview

The Director of Academy Operations & Education Programs leads the strategic direction, daily functions, and growth of the JPMS Academy located at the corporate headquarters in Santa Monica, CA. This role ensures the Academy is a premier destination for professional education, brand integration, creativity, and technical skill development. The Director manages program planning, facility operations, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and delivers an exceptional educational experience aligned with JPMS standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all Academy operations, managing the calendar, scheduling, space optimization, supplies, and event logistics to ensure smooth and professional execution.
• Maintain the Academy as a polished and functional extension of the corporate headquarters, partnering with various departments to uphold brand and safety standards.
• Serve as the main contact for stakeholders, including salon owners, stylists, distributors, and internal teams to deliver seamless guest experiences from initial inquiry to post-event follow-up.
• Oversee coordination and leadership of educators and artists, ensuring program alignment with learning objectives and JPMS values.
• Collaborate on curriculum development to incorporate current industry trends, product launches, and business-building education.
• Manage all aspects of event and class execution, including logistics, communications, and on-site coordination to guarantee high-quality outcomes.
• Administer budgeting, resource allocation, vendor relationships, and inventory control to maintain premium educational standards cost-effectively.
• Support marketing efforts and creative production by coordinating content creation and promotional activities linked to Academy programs.
• Champion inclusive education by adjusting programs to meet diverse learning levels and continuously refining curriculum based on feedback and business goals.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 7 years in leadership roles within the professional beauty industry, education, academy management, or salon operations.
• At least 5 years’ experience managing professional education programs, events, workshops, or training operations.
• High school diploma or GED required; licensed cosmetologist/barber and Bachelor’s degree in related fields preferred.
• Proven ability to lead complex operations, budget management, and cross-department collaboration.
• Strong communication skills for diverse stakeholder engagement and executive-level reporting.
• Preferred experience with digital content creation, curriculum design, and international education partnerships.

Working Conditions

• Full-time, on-site position requiring consistent presence at the Santa Monica Academy with up to 10% travel.
• Potential for evening, weekend, or extended hours due to program and event demands.
• Fast-paced, guest-facing environment with physical activity including extended standing periods.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary range approximately $125,000 to $135,000, depending on location, experience, and education.
• Eligible for a discretionary bonus based on personal and company performance.
