Desktop Engineer - Experienced Hire

Role Overview

Join our Client Corporate Services team as a Helpdesk and Desktop Support Engineer, responsible for assisting over 700 users in the Dublin office. This diverse role involves providing expert support for Windows desktop hardware and software, user account permissions, PC builds, software installations and procurement, as well as peripheral and mobile device support.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 1st and 2nd level support collaborating closely with software developers and system architects to cover desktop hardware and software issues using tools like SCCM, Jira, Confluence, Splunk, Check_MK, Microsoft Intune, and Active Directory.
• Effectively manage and resolve complex problems through a ticketing system.
• Regularly review and enhance support processes, and develop required tools and environments.
• Work closely with internal IT teams and external vendors based in the US and elsewhere to resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain and update the Knowledge Base and run books for ongoing support excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience delivering desktop support for both hardware and software systems.
• Leadership experience to guide and mentor junior team members is advantageous.
• Proficiency with peripherals including printers and graphics cards.
• Hands-on hardware experience such as managing KVM switches, multi-screen setups (including 4x4K monitors), and component replacements.
• Experience supporting trading users or development teams is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Windows desktop OS: Windows 7 (64-bit), Windows 10 (64-bit), and Windows 11.
• Capability to monitor and troubleshoot desktop-related issues and make registry modifications for configuration.
• Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and experience with SCCM tools are beneficial.
• Advanced understanding of Microsoft 365 applications and Active Directory management.
• BSc degree in a technical field or similar practical experience.
