Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Design Director to spearhead design excellence and oversee the successful delivery of sophisticated residential and hospitality projects. This leadership position involves crafting a clear design vision aligned with our brand, mentoring design teams, and ensuring projects meet deadlines, budgets, and high design standards. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and active leader driven by design innovation, operational discipline, client engagement, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead high-end residential and hospitality projects throughout all phases with proven expertise.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of the firm’s portfolio and standards to promote consistency and efficiency.
• Interpret client requirements and user experience to formulate design concepts and finalize project briefs.
• Guide project teams by providing design direction and solutions at every phase.
• Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to scope, timeline, budget, and design integrity.
• Act as a principal client liaison and key decision-maker during project execution.
• Ensure deliverables comply with quality standards, regulatory codes, and expected levels of development.
• Mentor junior staff to support professional growth and skill enhancement.

Qualifications

• Professional degree such as BFA or MFA in Interior Design, or Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture.
• Over ten years of architecture or interior design experience with a portfolio showcasing completed projects.
• Demonstrated success in securing projects and managing multiple engagements simultaneously.
• Strong leadership background, experienced in directing large teams.
• Skilled in sketching, spatial planning, and client presentations.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD; Revit experience is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel for projects beyond the New York area.
• Highly organized, meticulous, and a collaborative team player.
