Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Trade electricity derivatives including futures, OTC products, Financial Transmission Rights, and NZ Emission Units to enhance the value of Genesis's trading portfolio with both hedging and speculative strategies.
• Evaluate and negotiate significant short- and long-term hedge and forward transactions.
• Manage carbon products trading to meet Genesis's emission obligations and speculative interests.
• Monitor and review hedge and forward trading outcomes, delivering performance reports as needed.
• Conduct analysis, provide commentary, and recommend opportunities in the forward markets.
• Stay informed on global market trends and policy updates relating to emissions trading, advising the business accordingly.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience in commodity trading or similar analytical roles within highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of electricity markets either within New Zealand or internationally.
• Proven ability to structure and document hedge agreements.
• Familiarity with New Zealand's emissions trading system.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in a commercial or business discipline.
• A positive, reliable, and proactive team-oriented mindset with confidence in risk-taking and decision-making in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
