Position Summary

MatchBox Consulting Group is urgently looking for a Data Quality Assurance Analyst for a 5-month contract at a public sector client based in New Westminster, British Columbia. This hybrid role requires two days onsite and three days working remotely.

The successful candidate will join a technology team to ensure enterprise data and application quality, accuracy, and dependability by designing and implementing robust testing strategies. They will validate data integrity and collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

  • Analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories to ascertain testing needs.
  • Work alongside developers, product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders in formulating quality assurance strategies and detailed test plans.
  • Create, maintain, and implement comprehensive test documentation including test plans, cases, scenarios, and scripts for both manual and automated testing.
  • Conduct integration, functional, regression, performance, data validation, and user acceptance tests.
  • Prepare test data and maintain test environments to support quality efforts.
  • Record execution outcomes, document defects, prioritize them, and track their resolution.
  • Lead defect triage sessions and liaise with development teams to resolve issues swiftly.
  • Monitor product quality continuously throughout the lifecycle and communicate QA progress, risks, and issues in status reports.
  • Organize test sessions, ensure adequate resources and environments, and assist in user feedback and training documentation development.
  • Identify quality risks and recommend mitigation approaches.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including daily standups, sprint planning, review, and retrospectives.
  • Provide additional support as directed by leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or comparable experience.
  • At least three years of recent experience in software quality assurance focusing on application and data validation.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience handling large datasets.
  • Knowledge of data validation methods and testing best practices.
  • Capability to develop and execute both manual and automated test cases.
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and related database technologies.
  • Familiarity with creating test plans, scenarios, and scripts in Agile environments.
  • Proven expertise in functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities coupled with strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Experience with Python for automating tests or data validation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics.
