Overview

Join Microsoft as a Data Center Technician, responsible for staging, installation, hardware maintenance, and troubleshooting within a data center environment. You will carry out hardware deployments, diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues, and handle hardware decommissions for routine upgrades and refreshes following set procedures. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic evaluations and troubleshoot hardware problems according to established protocols, swiftly identifying and resolving faults to minimize service interruptions.
• Perform quality assurance checks post-deployment, ensuring proper grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling in compliance with safety and network design requirements.
• Execute hardware decommissioning for straightforward changes and refreshing tasks such as memory upgrades or system rebuilds, with minimal supervision.
• Effectively communicate, document, and escalate operational incidents to relevant management, team leads, and engineering specialists.
• Offer assistance and mentorship to colleagues tackling complex assignments.
• Engage in role-specific training and gain practical experience by working alongside senior technicians.
• Contribute proactively to team effectiveness by sharing knowledge, participating in meetings, and monitoring team progress.
• Uphold a strong commitment to service quality, accountability for data center facilities, and the overall user experience.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of High School Diploma, GED, TAFE, or an equivalent qualification.
• Basic understanding of computer hardware and components.
• At least 1 year of professional experience supporting IT equipment or related technologies.

Security and Background Checks

• Must successfully complete the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hiring and biennially thereafter.
• Verification of Australian citizenship status, including a valid Australian Passport, to comply with government security mandates.
• Potential requirement for an enhanced security clearance (NV1/2, PV) through the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Over 2 years of relevant industry experience with IT hardware support.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, and Basic Structure Cabling (BSC) are advantageous.
