Overview
Join Microsoft as a Data Center Technician where you will be responsible for staging, installing, and deploying hardware. You'll troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues, carry out hardware decommissions for simple refreshes, and adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting following established procedures swiftly identifying problems and replacing defective parts ensuring minimal disruption.
- Verify quality post-execution tasks including grounding, staging, proper labeling, and cabling adhering to safety and deployment standards.
- Perform hardware decommissions such as memory upgrades and rebuilds with limited supervision following standard protocols.
- Communicate and escalate incidents promptly to data center operations management, leads, and engineering teams as required.
- Support and mentor fellow technicians in complex tasks while completing necessary role-aligned training and hands-on learning.
- Collaborate within the team by sharing information, participating in meetings, and staying informed on collective task progress.
- Maintain pride and responsibility for service quality, completeness, and overall data center facility ownership.
- Exemplify Microsoft’s values and cultural principles in daily activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent with foundational knowledge of computer hardware and components combined with relevant IT equipment support experience.
- Applicants must be able to commute onsite; public transportation options are limited, so personal transportation is recommended.
Security and Background Checks
- Must satisfy Microsoft and government-required security screening including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hiring and biannually thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical experience in supporting IT equipment or related technology.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+ or Basic Structure Cabling (BSC) are advantageous.
Compensation and Additional Information
The typical annual salary in Germany ranges between €53,700 and €74,700. Role may include additional benefits and compensation. The position will remain open for a minimum of five days, with applications accepted on a rolling basis.
