Job Overview

This full-time role is based at the Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) East Tennessee Regional Office in Greeneville, TN. As a Custodial Worker 2, you will work under general supervision performing medium complexity custodial tasks and act as lead for a small group of custodial staff. This position includes responsibilities such as cleaning various facilities and operating cleaning machinery, as well as maintenance of equipment and minor grounds upkeep.

Responsibilities

  • Use a variety of custodial tools and equipment, including floor washers, buffers, and vacuums, to maintain facility cleanliness.
  • Lead or perform duties of sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors either manually or with machines.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, floors, walls, and mirrors, as well as empty trash receptacles.
  • Maintain offices, hospital facilities, state park inns, cabins, and other areas by dusting, vacuuming, shampooing carpets, washing walls and windows, and tidying workspaces.
  • Police surrounding grounds by removing trash and noting maintenance needs.
  • Maintain simple records and submit routine reports on facility deficiencies and supply requirements.
  • Perform light maintenance on cleaning equipment used during shifts.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience equivalent to at least one year of full-time custodial work.
  • Must complete a Motor Vehicle Records screening and pass a criminal background check; submission of criminal history disclosure, fingerprinting for TBI background check, and review of status on the Department of Health’s vulnerable persons registry are required.
  • Must follow procedures for criminal history and submit all related documentation as required by appointing authorities.

Additional Information

This position is classified as the lead role among custodial workers but distinguishes itself from supervisory positions, which oversee larger groups. Shift assignments may vary.
