Role Overview
We seek a skilled Corporate Travel Manager to guide the organization's global travel program, including policy creation, supplier management, traveler experience enhancement, expense oversight, risk mitigation, and travel technology advancements. The successful candidate will streamline travel expenses, negotiate supplier partnerships, ensure traveler safety and adherence to policies, and develop a forward-looking travel program supporting business expansion and international operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement global corporate travel strategies, policies, standards, governance, and annual programming aligned with company goals.
- Oversee end-to-end travel programs encompassing flights, accommodation, ground transport, rail, car rentals, visas, travel insurance, meetings, and events.
- Formulate travel policies addressing booking workflows, approvals, preferred vendors, travel classes, expense caps, international and emergency travel, sustainability goals, and compliance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Procurement, HR, Executive Administration, Events, IT, Security, Sustainability, and Executive Leadership.
- Manage partnerships with airlines, hotel chains, travel management companies (TMCs), booking platforms, car rental firms, rail operators, insurance providers, visa agencies, and other strategic suppliers.
- Lead contract negotiations, renewals, preferred rate agreements, volume deals, service-level agreements, rebate programs, and strategic alliances.
- Analyze travel expenditures, booking trends, routes, supplier performance, ticket utilization, hotel use, travel frequency, and costs to identify savings.
- Create strategic plans for travel categories including air, hotel, ground transport, meetings/events, executive travel, and international mobility.
- Develop KPIs to measure spend, savings, compliance, booking advancement, vendor usage, traveler satisfaction, ticket recovery, adoption rates, supplier results, and carbon emissions.
- Stay informed about travel trends, geopolitical shifts, market changes in airlines/hotels, regulations, exchange rates, disruptions, and risks.
- Establish traveler safety and duty-of-care programs incorporating risk assessments, emergency responses, traveler tracking, crisis communication, medical assistance, security alerts, and continuity plans.
- Handle international travel requirements such as passports, visas, immigration documents, advisories, and country-specific regulations.
- Coordinate travel expense functions alongside Finance covering policies, corporate cards, reconciliation, audits, reimbursements, fraud prevention, and reporting.
- Drive adoption of AI and digital tools for travel recommendations, policy enforcement automation, predictive analytics, itinerary management, risk monitoring, and personalized experiences.
- Utilize platforms including SAP Concur, American Express Global Business Travel, CWT, Navan, TravelPerk, Egencia, Coupa, Oracle, Microsoft 365, Power BI, Tableau, corporate card systems, expense management, and risk tech.
- Incorporate sustainability into travel planning via carbon tracking, emissions reporting, sustainable supplier selection, rail alternatives, virtual meetings, and responsible travel policies.
- Manage budgets, technology investments, TMC fees, supplier programs, travel consultants, insurance, traveler support services, and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for leadership including travel spend dashboards, supplier reviews, savings analyses, risk assessments, policy advice, sustainability updates, and strategic recommendations.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of travel specialists, coordinators, analysts, executive travel professionals, and supporting staff promoting excellence, compliance, efficiency, safety, and continuous enhancement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Tourism, Travel Management, Finance, Procurement, Operations, or related fields.
- Master's degree (MBA) or advanced qualifications in related areas preferred.
- Professional certifications such as GBTA credentials, CTIE, procurement qualifications, or equivalent are advantageous.
- At least 5 years of experience in corporate travel management, procurement, hospitality, or related sectors.
- Minimum 2 years managing corporate travel programs, suppliers, teams, policies, or multi-disciplinary initiatives preferred.
- Deep knowledge of corporate travel management, procurement, airline/hotel contracting, policy compliance, expense management, traveler experience, duty of care, risk management, and international travel.
- Experience with SAP Concur, Amex Global Business Travel, CWT, Navan, TravelPerk, Egencia, Coupa, Oracle, Microsoft 365, Power BI, Tableau, corporate card/payment platforms, and expense systems.
- Familiarity with AI-driven travel solutions, predictive analytics, automated policies, traveler risk intelligence, digital itinerary tools, and sustainable travel technology is a plus.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, financial analysis, supplier and stakeholder engagement, project management, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Capacity to manage multiple corporate travel projects balancing cost, traveler experience, business needs, safety, compliance, sustainability, supplier performance, budgets, and continuity.
- Ability to work productively in remote settings coordinating diverse teams and occasional travel for negotiation, conferences, executive meetings, or strategic planning.
