Role overview
REVEURSE TANZANIA COMPANY LIMITED is seeking a Corporate Associate to support and guide corporate legal work from its Dar es Salaam office. The role combines hands-on legal drafting, client advisory, team coordination, quality control, and supervision of corporate matters.
Key responsibilities
- Draft and prepare a range of legal documents, including contracts, mortgages, separation documents, and legal opinions.
- Examine, revise, and approve team-prepared contracts and other legal papers before they are sent out.
- Allocate assignments to the corporate team, monitor progress, review outputs, and make sure work is completed within deadlines.
- Represent the partner in client meetings, or attend meetings together with the partner, on corporate work matters.
- Hold meetings with the corporate team to track task progress and keep the partner informed of updates.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with clients so they stay informed about the status of their work.
- Run regular team meetings to discuss workload distribution, priorities, and relevant legal developments.
- Mentor and support the corporate team by sharing legal guidance, encouraging professional growth, and helping them build the capability to take on more responsibility.
- Complete monthly staff evaluations for supervisees and submit them to the HR department on time.
- Advise clients on corporate legal matters and related issues.
- Draft legal reports and executive summaries for management.
- Develop and sustain strong client relationships through reliable updates, strong service standards, and demonstrated corporate law expertise.
- Ensure assignments are billed promptly, coordinate with administration on payment follow-up, and make sure billed work aligns with allocated hours and monthly KPI expectations.
- Oversee the team’s performance to ensure work meets required standards and follows company policies and procedures.
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and experience
- A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from a recognized institution is required.
- Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in corporate and commercial law practice.
- Strong practical experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other legal documents is expected.
- Experience advising clients on corporate legal issues is needed.
- Previous exposure to supervising or leading a legal team will be an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of Tanzanian corporate law, labor law, commercial law, and regulatory compliance requirements is necessary.
- Understanding of corporate governance, commercial transactions, and compliance matters is important.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability are required.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills are essential.
- Strong client relationship management and customer service skills are needed.
- Ability to handle several assignments at once and deliver under strict deadlines is required.
- A professional approach, integrity, and confidentiality are expected.
- Good organization, time management, attention to detail, and accuracy are important.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
- The candidate should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
- Awareness of billing, time recording, and assignment profitability is required.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize effectively is important.
