About the Role
Dar Al Riyadh is looking for a seasoned Contract Administrator to oversee and manage construction and consultancy contracts for significant infrastructure and building initiatives. The candidate will ensure adherence to contract terms, handle all contract-related documentation, support commercial aspects, and offer contractual guidance throughout project phases. This position demands solid experience in Project Management Consultancy (PMC) projects and expert knowledge of FIDIC contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage contracts for construction and consultancy from the point of project award to the final close-out phase.
- Analyze and interpret contract clauses, ensuring all obligations and terms are met and complied with.
- Draft, examine, and handle contractual correspondence, official notices, and reports efficiently.
- Maintain and organize contract registers, detailed documentation, and records systematically.
- Analyze contractor submissions including variations, claims, and requests for Extensions of Time (EOT).
- Work closely with Project Managers and teams responsible for Commercial, Planning, Cost Control, and Legal to coordinate contractual issues.
- Identify potential contractual risks and suggest effective mitigation measures.
- Assist in managing variations and change orders throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Ensure contract administration aligns with project protocols, client specifications, and organizational policies.
- Participate in commercial meetings offering insights and recommendations related to contracts.
- Support negotiation processes and aid in dispute prevention and resolution.
- Facilitate contract closure activities including final account settlements and preparation of completion documents.
- Ensure administration complies strictly with FIDIC Conditions of Contract and recognized industry standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, or a closely related field.
- Professional certifications like MRICS, CIArb, CCM, or equivalents are preferred.
- Certification specific to FIDIC contracts is considered an advantage.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in contract administration roles.
- At least 5 years of experience within Project Management Consultancy settings.
- Demonstrable background in large-scale infrastructure, transportation, roadworks, utility, mixed-use, or building projects.
- Experience working in Saudi Arabia or other GCC countries is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of FIDIC contracts, especially Red Book and Yellow Book editions.
- Skilled in managing claims, variations, Extensions of Time, and final contract closeouts.
- Familiarity with procurement procedures and commercial contract management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and contract/document management tools such as Aconex or EDMS.
- Strong awareness and handling of contractual risk management principles.
