Role Overview

The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) is a senior executive role responsible for commercial leadership, capital markets engagement, strategic financial planning, and board-level decision support. This role evaluates commercial prospects, guides corporate expansion strategies, optimizes capital deployment, and strengthens ties with investors, analysts, financial institutions, and strategic stakeholders. Working closely with the CEO, CFO, Board, and external advisors, the incumbent will help shape corporate strategy, appraise funding alternatives, manage capital market activities, and deliver commercial insights driving long-term shareholder value. The position is ideal for experienced leaders with solid backgrounds in mining, natural resources, corporate finance, investment banking, corporate development, or capital markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commercial strategy and offer strategic counsel to executive leadership and Board regarding growth initiatives, capital allocation, partnerships, restructuring, and investments.
• Oversee commercial assessments of exploration, development, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic deals.
• Contribute to annual budgeting by providing strategic commercial inputs, financial scenario analysis, and long-term forecasts.
• Develop and maintain financial models evaluating funding needs, project economics, returns, and capital deployment options.
• Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses related to commodity markets, development timelines, operational metrics, funding frameworks, and market trends.
• Support capital raising efforts including debt, equity, and alternative funding by preparing analyses, investor materials, and transaction documentation.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with institutional investors, investment banks, brokers, analysts, and market participants.
• Prepare investor presentations, Board reports, market updates, commercial reviews, and strategic recommendations.
• Monitor industry trends, peer performance, investor sentiment, and capital market movements to aid executive decisions.
• Collaborate with finance, operations, technical, and corporate teams to ensure synergy between commercial strategies and operational delivery.
• Ensure all commercial communications and investor materials comply with regulatory and governance standards.
• Drive continuous improvement of commercial processes, capital planning, and decision-making frameworks.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or related fields.
• Preferably holds an MBA, CA, CPA, CFA, or other professional/postgraduate credentials.
• At least 12 years of relevant professional experience covering corporate development, investment banking, finance, equity research, commercial leadership, strategy consulting, or similar.
• Proven expertise within mining, natural resources, metals, energy, or resource sectors.
• Experience supporting senior executive leadership, Boards, or publicly listed companies on strategy and commercial matters.
• Track record in capital raising, debt financing, restructuring, M&A, joint ventures, or strategic partnerships.
• Comprehensive knowledge of corporate finance, valuation methods, capital markets, project economics, and investment analysis.
• Advanced skills in financial modelling, developing complex scenario frameworks and valuation tools.
• Strong understanding of public company governance, regulatory disclosures, and investor relations best practices.
• Proficiency preparing Board-level materials, investment memorandums, market communications, and strategic reports.
• Exceptional analytical skills, capable of simplifying complex financial and technical data into actionable commercial insights.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building capabilities.
• High integrity, strong commercial acumen, professionalism, and executive demeanor.
