Role Overview
The Branch Manager is fully accountable for the branch's profit and loss, regulatory compliance, team output, and customer satisfaction. This leader combines operational oversight with people management and ensures the branch runs efficiently and compliantly. They maintain control over loan disbursements, collections, appraisals, staff conduct, vault security, and audit preparedness. This role demands proactive problem-solving and hands-on leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve set monthly and quarterly targets for gold loan disbursements by value and volume, leading new customer acquisitions through sales and outreach efforts at the branch.
- Track daily disbursement progress and take immediate corrective measures if goals lag.
- Explore growth avenues within the local service area, targeting untapped neighborhoods, new client segments, and seasonal demand changes.
- Manage cross-selling opportunities, such as insurance products, in line with company policies.
- Maintain Non-Performing Asset (NPA) levels below company thresholds and oversee timely collection activities by assigning responsibilities with clear deadlines.
- Ensure all pre-auction notifications and auction processes comply strictly with company guidelines.
- Proactively communicate with borrowers approaching loan maturity to secure renewals and sustain collection efficiency of at least 95% of interest due within each period.
- Guarantee full KYC compliance on every loan with zero exceptions and enforce Loan to Value (LTV) ratios at or below 75% of appraised asset value.
- Secure the gold vault, conduct daily physical audits of pledged gold, and maintain accurate custody records.
- Keep the branch perpetually ready for audits by meticulously maintaining documentation, registers, and digital files; promptly report suspicious transactions.
- Establish clear targets for individual team members, conduct daily briefings and weekly performance evaluations, provide coaching to underperformers, and recognize high achievers.
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and training with HR, and uphold discipline standards including punctuality, appearance, conduct, and customer service.
- Ensure customers receive prompt, respectful, and clear service; personally manage escalated complaints within 24 hours and nurture ongoing relationships with valuable clients.
- Regularly review customer feedback to implement improvements enhancing overall service quality.
Candidate Profile
- A total of 5 to 12 years’ experience in gold financing, NBFCs, co-operative banks, or microfinance institutions, including at least 2 to 4 years leading a branch or similar unit, preferably in gold loans.
- Proven expertise managing branch finances, disbursement objectives, and controlling NPAs.
- Hands-on familiarity with regulatory requirements related to KYC, anti-money laundering (AML), combating financing terrorism (CFT), LTV compliance, and audit procedures.
- Proven leadership skills overseeing a moderate team of 4 to 8 employees including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
- Strong knowledge of gold loan processes encompassing LTV settings, valuations, pledge handling, renewals, and auction regulations.
- Ability to analyze operational figures daily and respond decisively to challenges, including handling vault issues, customer disputes, and unexpected audits calmly and effectively.
- Fluent in spoken and written Tamil for documentation and client interactions and a basic level of English for management information systems and reporting.
- Highest integrity standards, essential for managing cash and gold assets responsibly without compromise.
Mandatory Hiring Requirements
- Completion of background verification and police clearance prior to appointment confirmation.
- No history of financial discrepancies such as shortages, theft, or fraud in prior roles; references must be rigorously checked.
- Experience strictly required from regulated financial entities such as banks, NBFCs, MFIs, or cooperatives.
- Candidates must undergo thorough in-person interviews including branch and vault walkthroughs; phone-only assessments are insufficient.
