Role Summary

The BGC (Background Check) Compliance team at Instacart ensures strict adherence to local, state, and federal regulations affecting delivery fulfillment by combining data-driven and customer-centric methods. This role involves reviewing and adjudicating background checks, addressing internal and external escalations, and resolving onboarding challenges. The specialist plays a crucial part in maintaining the platform’s security, safety, and overall stability for both shoppers and customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately adjudicate background checks with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Investigate and promptly resolve escalations related to background checks from internal and external sources to preserve a secure platform experience.
• Identify and fully resolve any background check issues while highlighting and pursuing process improvement opportunities.
• Perform repetitive operational tasks precisely and efficiently, continuously seeking ways to enhance team productivity and scalability.

Qualifications and Skills

• 1 to 2+ years of work experience, preferably in fast-paced environments related to background checks, data processing, or support roles; alternatively, a strong academic record may be considered.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• A positive mindset with resilience to adapt to dynamic and evolving operational scenarios.
• Capability to make swift, critical decisions on sensitive matters in a high-pressure environment.
• Uphold strict confidentiality standards in all tasks.
• Willingness and availability to work during weekends and holidays.

Compensation and Benefits

Instacart offers competitive market-based pay and benefits corresponding to the employee’s work location. This is a remote role with salary varying by region. Below are the approximate base pay ranges (USD) for representatives in different states:

• California, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey: $27.88 to $29.33 per hour
• Washington: $26.44 to $27.89 per hour
• Oregon, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Hawaii: $25.48 to $26.93 per hour
• All other states: $23.08 to $24.28 per hour
