Job Overview

This role involves coordinating closely with the Control Room Engineer/System Controller to execute tasks associated with electricity and steam generation. Responsibilities include monitoring control equipment and operating parameters tied to the plant's equipment and services, ensuring safety and efficiency. At Jebel Ali site, the role specifically encompasses ensuring power supply to the site itself and to external customers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate plant machinery as directed to guarantee safe and effective generation and distribution of electrical power aligned with daily operational plans, fulfilling the requirements of the Smelter Complex and third-party clients.
• Monitor operating parameters of Gas Turbines, Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs), and Steam Turbines to maximize steam output.
• Collect and verify precise operational data for performance tracking and generation of accurate customer invoices; perform routine calculations related to efficiency and electrical fault levels pending supervisory approval.
• Initiate start-up and shutdown sequences of diverse plant equipment based on instructions from Control Room Engineer/System Controller.
• Continuously oversee the status of the entire system including gas, steam, compressed air, and fuel supply systems.
• Promptly report any temperature, vibration, or operational alarms signaling abnormalities.
• Regularly observe fuel consumption, frequency, voltage, and current to maintain optimal power and smelter functionality.
• Ensure timely execution of operational routines.
• Maintain clear communication channels with field operators, Control Room Engineer/System Controller, and supervisory staff regarding plant irregularities to facilitate corrective measures.
• Provide training to junior personnel to support departmental goals.
• Raise work and storage requests as directed by supervisory roles.
• Safeguard environmental compliance within the operational area to avoid incidents and reduce waste.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives by participating in the Suggestion Scheme and validating proposals.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related Engineering discipline is mandatory.
• Minimum of five years' experience within the power generation or manufacturing sector.

Skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic programming.
• Strong computer application capabilities.
