Job Overview

The Assistant Site Supervisor is essential in supporting the Site Supervisor in managing daily operations on construction sites. This individual ensures projects are safely and efficiently executed according to budget and timeline. Serving as the bridge between the project manager and the on-site workforce, the role involves guiding workers, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This position focuses on a Long-Term Care (LTC) project and requires relevant experience in site management and safety adherence.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the oversight and daily management of construction site activities to facilitate smooth progress.
• Coordinate efforts among contractors, subcontractors, and workers to meet project goals and deadlines.
• Monitor and update project schedules and milestones, addressing any delays promptly.
• Communicate on-site developments, obstacles, or issues effectively to the Site Supervisor or Project Manager.
• Conduct regular inspections to verify work quality aligns with specified project standards.
• Detect and resolve deficiencies by collaborating closely with relevant teams.
• Ensure all personnel adhere to health and safety protocols, including the use of proper protective gear.
• Execute routine safety inspections and remediate hazards to uphold a safe work environment.
• Keep track of inventory, ensuring materials and tools are available to avoid work interruptions.
• Manage the delivery, storage, and usage of materials and equipment in a timely and organized manner.
• Maintain detailed site logs documenting daily activities, incidents, and completed tasks.
• Assist in compiling comprehensive reports for project managers or clients incorporating all pertinent information.
• Oversee on-site teams to guarantee compliance with project plans, instructions, and safety requirements.
• Relay clear directions from the Site Supervisor to workers and contractors, facilitating effective task completion.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed primarily onsite in a fast-paced environment with variable hours based on project demands.
• Exposure to various weather conditions, noise, dust, and other occupational hazards requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and personal protective equipment use.
• Potential travel to different job sites or meetings with stakeholders depending on project scope.
• May encounter pressure to meet milestones, troubleshoot issues, and maintain project advancement within set timelines.

Qualifications and Skills

• At least three years of experience in the Canadian construction industry, preferably with new construction projects.
• Educational or practical background in engineering or trades is highly beneficial.
• Strong organizational abilities to juggle multiple priorities effectively and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail for assessing subcontractor workmanship and completed work quality.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate and coordinate with all project participants and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
• Analytical thinking capable of identifying solutions and making informed decisions under dynamic project conditions.
• A valid Ontario Driver's license with a clean driving record.
