Role Overview
The Assistant Bar Manager is responsible for assisting the Bar Manager with the everyday management of bar operations throughout the hotel's outlets, ensuring service excellence, adherence to brand standards, and successful execution of the beverage program. This position supports team coaching and ensures regulatory compliance.
Key Duties
- Assist the Bar Manager in daily bar operations to deliver seamless and high-quality guest experiences at all times.
- Maintain and promote adherence to luxury brand service protocols and guest interaction standards.
- Ensure the bar environment is meticulously clean, well-maintained, and visually inviting, including managing mise en place.
- Provide operational support for food services at Kelly's Bar by coordinating closely with the kitchen to guarantee smooth service and customer satisfaction.
- Handle guest feedback efficiently and professionally, resolving issues promptly.
- Support the rollout and ongoing management of curated beverage programs encompassing cocktails, spirits, wines, and non-alcoholic options.
- Work collaboratively to introduce seasonal drink menus, promotions, and special events aimed at enhancing the bar offering.
- Conduct product quality checks, tastings, and service evaluations to maintain consistency aligned with brand standards.
- Encourage innovation and improvement in beverage selections based on market trends and customer input.
- Oversee bartenders, mixologists, food and beverage attendants, and ancillary staff during shifts to ensure exceptional service delivery.
- Develop and manage weekly staff schedules to balance business demands with labor cost efficiency.
- Assist recruitment, onboarding, and continuous professional development in mixology, product knowledge, food service, and luxury hospitality standards.
- Promote a collaborative and accountable team culture focused on excellence and innovation.
- Lead by example, setting a high benchmark for performance and guest satisfaction.
- Monitor bar stock and conduct inventories to support cost control and budgeting objectives.
- Manage payroll accuracy and staff rostering while aligning labor costs with departmental financial goals.
- Evaluate roster effectiveness and adjust staffing in response to occupancy rates and business needs.
- Contribute operational insights for marketing promotions and events aimed at revenue maximization.
- Support departmental goals in revenue growth, cost containment, and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, including licensing, food safety, health and safety regulations, and responsible alcohol service.
- Uphold SOPs including responsible alcohol service, ID checks, cash handling, and guest safety protocols.
- Participate in periodic audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring immediate implementation of corrective measures.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and pristine work environment consistent with luxury hospitality standards.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years experience in managing bar operations within an upscale or luxury setting.
- Strong expertise in cocktail preparation, wine, spirits, and luxury beverage service.
- Experience with POS systems and stock management software.
- Outstanding leadership, communication, and guest service capabilities.
- Required certifications include Food Safety and Responsible Service of Alcohol.
- Must be eligible to work in Ireland.
