Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Manager will lead a vital part of our Finance group, overseeing accounts payable and travel & expense functions. This role demands a leader who balances rigorous accounting standards with practical business needs, managing daily operations throughout the procure-to-pay cycle, vendor relations, corporate travel expenses, and master data management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and cultivate a high-performing Accounts Payable team, including supervisors, coordinators, and processors, fostering professional excellence.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Merchandising, Engineering, and IT to improve and implement systems that enhance AP operations and support business initiatives.
  • Manage the company’s travel and expense platform as well as the corporate card program to ensure smooth expense submissions and reimbursements.
  • Leverage agentic AI and emerging technologies to optimize workflows and integrate new AI capabilities from vendors.
  • Work closely with Merchandising and Operations to identify process efficiencies and promote continual improvements in AP processes.
  • Supervise monthly account payable close activities, including AP aging and Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) accounts, within a dynamic and data-driven environment.
  • Oversee high-volume invoice processing (~10,000 per month) and ensure accurate three-way matching of inventory receipts.
  • Ensure timely payments and precise reconciliations while addressing vendor and internal queries diplomatically.
  • Prepare detailed reports, schedules, and presentations to support audits and tax filings.
  • Analyze financial datasets to create insightful business reporting and pinpoint opportunities for upstream process enhancements.
  • Develop and monitor key metrics on volume and efficiency, perform root-cause analyses on critical issues, and influence the IT and Financial Systems roadmap.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar business discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing accounts payable teams, preferably within public companies or retail sectors.
  • At least 4 years of supervisory experience successfully leading diverse teams of hourly and salaried staff.
  • Strong background in financial reporting systems, ERP implementations, and maintaining SOX compliance.
  • Proven experience driving systems implementations and adopting technology for operational scalability and decision-making.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain operations and procure-to-pay processes, including invoice handling, three-way matching, and vendor master data management.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Oracle Cloud is advantageous.
