Job description

Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and highly organised Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator (AO5) to join us on a full-time temporary basis starting immediately until December 11, 2026, or as otherwise determined. This role is based across two campuses and reports directly to the College Business Manager.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver and enhance workplace health and safety services for the P-12 College.
  • Serve as the Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator for the entire college.
  • Offer clear, prompt, and confidential advice to management on injury prevention, hazard control, health and safety promotion, and risk management for students, staff, and campus community members.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System.
  • Conduct proactive risk assessments and workplace inspections to identify hazards.
  • Develop, promote, and coordinate training programs focused on health and safety for college staff.
  • Facilitate training sessions, inductions, and awareness initiatives to build competency in workplace health, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Provide regular reporting and feedback to the Workplace Health and Safety committee regarding all health and safety matters.
  • Organise WPH&S meetings, manage meeting administration and professional development, and support procedural adherence and guideline implementation.
  • Oversee the Annual Safety Assessment and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the P-12 College.
  • Perform inspections to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Collect and analyze data from Internal School Reviews and provide insights on incident reporting.
  • Communicate with management on individual Rehabilitation and Return to Work programs, conducting personal check-ins and reporting serious work injuries or events.
  • Create weekly return-to-work timesheets and action plans for injured staff.
  • Maintain open communication with injured employees, updating medical certificates and case notes within the Incident Management System (IMS).
