Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Waste Process Operator to join our Christchurch team. This hands-on position involves operating a variety of specialist equipment such as excavators, sludge pumps, and vacuum units, while actively participating in industrial waste processing tasks to help maintain efficient and safe waste operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, sludge pumps, and vacuum units.
- Manage receipt, processing, and handling of waste materials.
- Load, transport, and stockpile materials across the site efficiently.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on plant and equipment.
- Assist with general site cleaning and upkeep to maintain operational standards.
- Accurately complete all necessary job documentation and operational records.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental guidelines during all work activities.
- Collaborate with and support the broader operational team to accomplish tasks.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated experience operating excavators or other heavy plant machinery.
- Mechanical aptitude with confidence in machine operation and maintenance.
- Good physical fitness and a willingness to engage in physically demanding tasks.
- Strong dedication to health and safety practices in the workplace.
- Dependable with a solid work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work both autonomously and cooperatively within a team.
Preferred but Not Required
- Possession of Wheels, Tracks & Rollers (WTR) certification is advantageous.
- Previous experience operating vacuum units or sludge pumps.
- Background in waste management, industrial, quarry, civil, or plant operations is beneficial.
