Role Overview

We are expanding our National Volunteer Team and seeking a Volunteer Capability Partner to support our mission. Volunteers play a crucial role in fostering independence for people living with vision loss nationwide. This role focuses on enhancing volunteer recruitment, placement, and support processes, enabling different teams within Blind Low Vision NZ to confidently and consistently manage volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead specialized volunteer recruitment efforts, collaborating with internal teams to align skilled volunteers with impactful roles.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with community and sector groups to ensure a steady flow of volunteers.
• Work alongside staff to improve volunteer onboarding, compliance, assistance, and retention.
• Facilitate the adoption of consistent systems, processes, and best practices for scalable volunteer services.
• Utilize data analysis and insights to drive planning, refine procedures, and inform organizational decisions.
• Support the roll-out and ongoing success of new volunteer programs.
• Contribute to quality assurance, monitoring, reporting, analytics, and ongoing process improvement initiatives.

About You

The ideal candidate is an experienced and collaborative professional skilled in volunteer management and recruitment, especially for specialist or skilled roles. You have a methodical yet creative mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least three years of experience in volunteer management, recruitment, or human resources management.
• Proficient stakeholder engagement and partnership abilities.
• Experience with CRM software, preferably Salesforce, and familiarity with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and online collaboration tools.
• Comfortable using systems, data, and reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
• Commitment to inclusive, people-centered volunteer best practices and fostering positive volunteer experiences.
• Experience in recruiting and placing individuals in skilled or specialist roles.
• Excellent organizational and process-oriented skills to bring clarity and structure.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the Wellington Region and across New Zealand.
