Utility Locator I

About the Role

Star Construction LLC is hiring a Utility Locator I to help identify and mark underground utilities so work sites remain safe and projects stay on track. This role focuses on locating lines using flags and paint, reading maps, and supporting excavation teams with accurate information.

Key Responsibilities

• Use locating equipment to find underground utilities and mark them appropriately, asking experienced locators for support when needed.
• Review utility maps to verify the location of buried utilities.
• Keep complete records of all locate activities.
• Answer excavation notices quickly and professionally.
• Maintain clear communication with excavators, utility contacts, and internal teams.
• Perform light hand digging when required.
• Be available for overtime, travel, on-call duty, and after-hours work when needed.
• Carry out duties in all types of weather.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for this employer.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience is required.
• Must hold a valid state driver’s license that is not provisional and have an acceptable driving record.

Physical Demands

• Regularly work alone in remote areas, keep arms above shoulder level, operate a vehicle, use fine motor control, bend, stoop, stand, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, and use a keyboard and mouse.
• Occasionally use a portable ladder, work in confined spaces, and climb stairs.
