Role Overview
The Used Car Buyer plays a vital role in maintaining a strong inventory of quality pre-owned vehicles. This position requires expert vehicle appraisal skills, sharp negotiation abilities, and a solid knowledge of market trends and valuations. The role involves managing purchases to meet sales and profit margin KPIs while supporting trade-in appraisals and ensuring all vehicles bought comply with company quality and accessory standards. The buyer works closely with a dynamic team across the automotive division.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase used vehicles based on stock target and daily availability reports.
- Ensure purchase KPIs such as stock age, trade sales, and gross margin are achieved or exceeded.
- Accurately assess vehicle condition and estimate preparation costs using the latest valuation guides and reports.
- Support new car executives by appraising and valuing trade-in vehicles.
- Record appraisal details in IS Auto through Zest and maintain appraisal files for timely follow-up and purchasing.
- Conduct negotiations, finalize purchases, transfer vehicle ownership legally, and submit necessary documents for purchase processing.
- Confirm all purchased vehicles include required accessories.
- Monitor automotive market movements and adjust buying tactics to satisfy stock demands.
- Collaborate with sales teams to anticipate sales trends or promotional incentives affecting procurement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to technically appraise vehicles and estimate repair costs accurately.
- Strong negotiation and sales skills to secure favorable deals.
- Proficient use of MS Office; knowledge of SAP is advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to resolve grievances effectively and build relationships within multicultural teams.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in any field.
- Possession of a valid Qatar driving license.
