Their operations primarily focus on transporting cargo from Dar es Salaam Port in Tanzania to various landlocked nations, including Zambia, Congo, Malawi, Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda, providing dependable regional connectivity.
Role Overview
The position of Tracking Officer is full-time and based onsite in Ndola. This role entails continuous monitoring and updating of truck and cargo statuses in real time, ensuring precise records of shipment dispatches, arrivals, and movement. The officer acts as the communication link among drivers, dispatch personnel, and clients, delivering timely updates regarding shipment progress and promptly addressing any delays or routing modifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update tracking systems to reflect current cargo and truck locations.
- Generate regular performance and incident reports.
- Work collaboratively with operations teams to optimize travel routes.
- Escalate issues that might affect delivery deadlines effectively.
- Verify trip-related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and compliance standards.
- Contribute to the enhancement of tracking procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proficient use of GPS tracking devices, transport management systems, and basic office software such as spreadsheets and email.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills, capable of clear verbal and written reporting with drivers, dispatchers, and customers.
- Strong attention to detail with superior organizational abilities to manage accurate records and reporting.
- Basic knowledge of logistics, supply chain, or transportation operations, preferably with exposure to regional or cross-border freight.
- Ability to work onsite in Ndola, manage time efficiently in a dynamic environment, and react swiftly to operational changes.
- Problem-solving aptitude to detect inconsistencies in tracking data and escalate potential risks prudently.
- Preferred educational background includes a diploma or degree in logistics, transport management, business administration, or related disciplines.
- Previous experience in tracking, dispatching, or transport coordination within a logistics or transportation company will be advantageous.
