About Halter

Halter is building technology to help farmers and graziers run more productive and sustainable operations. The platform is designed to remove many of the time-heavy limitations of conventional farming, making grazing management simpler and more efficient. The company is working toward large-scale impact across the agricultural sector, with a mission to help manage 50% of the world’s habitable land more sustainably and productively.

The business is supported by leading investors, including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse Ventures.

Role overview

As Territory Manager for West Gippsland, you will own growth and customer outcomes across your region. The role combines sales execution, relationship management, and post-sale support, with a strong focus on both expansion and long-term customer success. You will act as Halter’s local representative in the field and collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure the product continues to meet farmer needs.

This is a field-based role and can be based anywhere in the Gippsland region. Regular travel across the territory is required.

What you will do

  • Generate new business through outreach, referrals, events, inbound enquiries, and other lead sources, while managing opportunities through the full sales cycle.
  • Advance the pipeline by qualifying prospects, running product demonstrations, negotiating terms, and closing contracts.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships after the sale, providing support and helping ensure continued value from Halter’s solutions.
  • Support onboarding and deployment so customers move smoothly from purchase into implementation and adoption.
  • Take ownership of the territory and build strong connections with regional agricultural groups and beef industry stakeholders.
  • Capture feedback from the field and share it with Support, Product, and R&D teams to influence improvements and innovation.
  • Work with support colleagues to resolve customer issues quickly and escalate matters when needed.

What the company is looking for

The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of sales ability, customer success mindset, and territory management capability. Experience in value-based selling, upselling, and building durable relationships is important. Familiarity with beef operations is highly valued, though candidates without direct industry experience may still be considered if they are genuinely passionate about the sector and willing to learn quickly.

You should be comfortable managing a broad territory, making smart trade-offs between sales activity and customer support, and working well under pressure. A collaborative, energetic, and accountable approach is essential, along with a willingness to travel frequently within the region.

Benefits

  • Access to snacks and drinks during the workday.
  • Health coverage support through Southern Cross Health Insurance.
  • 6 months of fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers and 4 weeks of fully paid secondary caregiver leave, plus additional family-friendly benefits.
  • An annual NZD 1,000 self-development allowance for learning and personal growth.
  • Wellness leave and unlimited paid annual leave.
  • A compensation package that includes salary, benefits, and an employee stock ownership plan.

About joining Halter

Halter values diversity and inclusion and encourages applicants who believe they are a strong fit to apply even if they do not meet every listed requirement. Candidates are expected to submit a cover letter explaining their interest in the role and in working at Halter, along with a CV.

The company describes its culture as high performance, fast-moving, and highly collaborative, with a focus on meaningful work, continuous learning, and solving difficult problems that create real-world impact.
