Job Purpose
This role is focused on managing and accelerating forest clearance activities for transmission projects. The position ensures that all statutory and environmental approvals are obtained in time, while working closely with government bodies, regulators, and internal teams to reduce delays and keep projects moving in line with compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with forest departments, regulatory authorities, and environmental agencies to secure clearances on schedule and keep projects compliant.
- Oversee forest diversion proposals, handle encroachment-related issues, and support fulfillment of compensatory afforestation obligations.
- Align environmental approval timelines with project execution plans so that transmission work is not delayed.
- Ensure adherence to the Forest Conservation Act, Wildlife Protection Act, and other applicable legal and statutory requirements.
- Prepare and file accurate submissions such as environmental impact assessments, afforestation plans, and clearance applications.
- Keep records updated for approvals, compliance certificates, and official correspondence to support audits and reviews.
- Develop working relationships with divisional forest officers, nodal agencies, and environmental committees to help move approvals faster.
- Address concerns linked to biodiversity, wildlife permissions, and afforestation commitments to support smooth execution.
- Share regular status updates with project and internal teams to maintain alignment and reduce regulatory risks.
- Identify likely clearance bottlenecks, legal issues, environmental objections, and land-related delays, then work with relevant teams to resolve them.
- Use GIS-based monitoring, digital mapping, and live progress dashboards to improve visibility of clearance progress.
- Analyze workflow bottlenecks and suggest process improvements to shorten approval timelines.
- Guide field teams on clearance procedures, strengthen their regulatory understanding, and promote consistent compliance practices.
- Conduct training on environmental regulations, approval workflows, and sustainable project execution methods.

Internal: Project Management Team, Environmental & Sustainability Team, Land Acquisition & Right-of-Way Team, Legal & Regulatory Compliance Team, Survey & GIS Team, Construction & Execution Team, Finance & Procurement Team, and Senior Management.
External: Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, State Forest Departments, Divisional Forest Officers, Conservators of Forests, Wildlife Boards, Environmental Committees, Pollution Control Boards, National Green Tribunal, CAMPA, local communities, tribal welfare departments, NGOs, environmental advocacy groups, survey and land assessment agencies, legal consultants, and compliance auditors.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Ecology, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a closely related discipline is required.
Experience
The role calls for 5 to 10 years of experience in forest clearance, environmental compliance, or land acquisition, preferably in infrastructure or energy-related organizations.
