Role Overview

The Talent Development Officer will own the bank’s talent growth and leadership development efforts. This position is responsible for building and delivering programs that improve individual and team performance, identifying learning needs, and shaping development strategies through internal training and outside partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the SVP of Human Resources and senior leadership to lead talent and leadership development by creating, choosing, and/or delivering leadership and team-building content.
  • Assess training needs and build employee development plans, while working with external professional organizations and colleges to support employee and team growth.
  • Design and facilitate in-house workshops and training sessions when needed.
  • Manage employee engagement surveys, including vendor and survey-format planning, communicating outcomes to the organization, and helping managers interpret results and create action plans.
  • Work with the HR team and SVP of Human Resources to schedule, define topics for, and structure the Employee Engagement Advisory Council.
  • Support succession planning by updating and preparing talent-related documents and tracking measures of success.
  • Help evaluate, choose, and administer the performance management system, including updating forms and templates and training managers and employees.
  • Contribute to onboarding content review and improvements and present onboarding material when required.
  • Serve as backup administrator for the learning management system (LMS).
  • Run the bank’s job shadowing program and use data to help managers better support employee career development.
  • Coach managers and employees on performance and behavior improvement approaches and advise supervisors on employee relations matters in line with bank policies and employment laws.
  • Prepare HR reports, analyze data, and use findings to recommend or implement improvements to HR programs.
  • Interpret HR policies and procedures, answer employee and manager questions, and help update policies, guidelines, and handbook content to stay compliant and aligned with business needs.
  • Review exit data and suggest improvements to engagement efforts, policies, training, and related programs.
  • Support the Benefits Officer with oversight of workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, and short-term/long-term disability policies.
  • Administer FMLA, ADA, and STD programs while following internal processes and applicable state and federal requirements, with empathy and collaboration.
  • Handle HR and organizational projects, including leading assigned initiatives.
  • Complete additional duties or responsibilities as assigned, with or without advance notice.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, leadership, or a related discipline, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
  • At least 5 years of prior HR experience, including work in talent management and employee engagement.
  • Experience using HRIS platforms is required; ADP experience is preferred.
  • Previous exposure to benefits administration is preferred.
  • Professional certification such as CP, PHR, or another similar HR credential is preferred.
