About the role

This opportunity is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys working deeply with systems, data, and process improvement rather than routine payroll processing. In this position, you will act as the specialist for payroll platforms, helping ensure systems, integrations, and governance arrangements support accurate and compliant payroll delivery across Australia.

You will work with SAP, SuccessFactors, and UKG to troubleshoot issues, improve workflows, strengthen controls, and keep data moving correctly across the payroll environment. Although the role is heavily systems-focused, you will also provide support to the payroll team when needed and help maintain end-to-end payroll continuity.

The position involves close collaboration with Payroll, HR, and IT teams to support system changes, integrations, testing, and continuous improvement. It suits someone who likes analysing complex problems, connecting information across functions, and building long-term solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the specialist contact for payroll systems, configuration, and system integrations.
• Examine and fix difficult payroll, systems, and data issues.
• Support governance, control, and compliance requirements across payroll systems and related processes.
• Work with Payroll, HR, and IT to keep data accurate and dependable across SAP, SuccessFactors, and UKG.
• Assist with payroll system upgrades, enhancements, testing, and change activities.
• Provide operational payroll support during leave periods or peak workloads.
• Track payroll obligations and ensure configuration aligns with legislation, policies, and enterprise agreement requirements.
• Review data, identify mismatches, and coordinate timely resolution with relevant stakeholders.
• Build reports, analytics, and insights that support business and operational decisions.
• Maintain documentation, process maps, and governance records.
• Support improvement initiatives aimed at greater efficiency, lower risk, and better service quality.

Working arrangement

The role is based on a Monday to Friday schedule at the Fortitude Valley office, with work-from-home flexibility available. The company also offers flexible start and finish times, plus a redistributed working week that allows employees to finish at noon on Fridays.

About you

You are an experienced payroll professional who understands the importance of accuracy and compliance, but you are most energised by the systems, data, and problem-solving behind the process. You are comfortable investigating difficult issues, working through details, and shaping solutions that improve outcomes for the business and employees alike.

You should bring experience across full payroll environments in both Australia and the United States, along with strong capability in payroll configuration, system support, and process improvement. A technically minded, curious, and collaborative approach will help you succeed in this role.

Requirements

• Proven experience across end-to-end payroll environments in Australia and the United States.
• Strong hands-on experience with payroll configuration and the SAP and SuccessFactors platforms.
• Exposure to rostering setup and time-and-attendance data, ideally using Kronos or UKG.
• Experience supporting payroll system changes, integrations, testing, and continuous improvement work.
• Ability to investigate and solve complex payroll or system issues.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to spot trends, risks, and opportunities in data.
• Good understanding of Australian payroll legislation, enterprise agreements, and governance practices.
• Comfort working across Payroll, HR, and IT teams in a collaborative way.
