Support Worker - Hamilton (Supported Living)

Role Overview

We are seeking a female Support Worker to join our Supported Living team in Hamilton. This part-time role involves working approximately 65 hours per fortnight with shifts scheduled between 8:45am and 5:00pm. Shift lengths will vary. The position supports individuals with intellectual disabilities living independently in their own homes, assisting them to meet personal goals and enrich their daily activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in developing and managing daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.
• Encourage maintaining relationships with family and friends and foster new social connections.
• Support participation in community activities like sports and arts.
• Guide job seeking efforts and help navigate employment opportunities.
• Assist with handling social challenges and accessing appropriate community services.
• Support decision making and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Candidate Requirements

While prior experience is favorable, a range of life experiences and an open mindset are highly valued.

• Ability to develop positive relationships and empower individuals to make their own decisions.
• Capability to work autonomously and solve complex problems.
• Strong communication skills, able to convey information clearly and understandably.
• Comfortable using technology proficiently.
• Physical fitness sufficient to support a variety of activities.
• Possession of a Full New Zealand driver's license.
