Support Worker - Fostering Service

Overview

Lancashire County Council is seeking two dedicated and passionate Support Workers to join the Resilience, Development and Sufficiency Team within its Fostering Service, based at County Hall, Preston. These permanent, full-time positions each involve 37 hours per week and focus on helping vulnerable children find safe and supportive foster homes while assisting foster families in overcoming challenges to promote stability.

Role Details

The available roles include one as a Fostering Family Finding Support Worker, responsible for matching children with suitable fostering families through a child-focused and strength-based approach, collaborating closely with social workers and foster carers to secure lasting placements. The second position is for a Support and Stability Support Worker, who will work hands-on in community and family settings to build relationships with foster families, provide practical and emotional support, and aid in preventing placement disruptions by enhancing foster carers’ skills in therapeutic and trauma-informed care.
