About the Role

Brightisle, a prominent health and community care service provider in Newfoundland and Labrador, is looking for compassionate and committed individuals to join as Supervised Family Visitation Workers. With over 25 years of experience and a workforce exceeding 1000 professionals, Brightisle focuses on enhancing the welfare of children and families.

Job Purpose

Supervised Family Visitation Workers facilitate safe visitations between children or youth in foster care and their families. They observe and monitor the visits to ensure safety and well-being, recording detailed reports that influence family reunification decisions and may be used in legal proceedings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Observe visits to monitor child and family safety
  • Document behavior and conditions of visitation sessions in accurate and thorough reports
  • Provide an objective presence maintaining confidentiality of all client information
  • Coordinate flexible visitation schedules including days, evenings, and weekends
  • Receive training and ongoing support for carrying out duties effectively

Requirements

  • Experience working with children and youth in a related setting
  • Valid Record of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • First Aid Certification
  • Medical Certificate stating good health, including negative TB test and up-to-date immunizations
  • Strong interpersonal, written communication, decision-making skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality

Working Conditions

The role involves short shifts of at least 3 hours with variable timing including weekends and evenings. No overnight or 24-hour shifts are required. Transportation for visits involving travel is arranged and covered by the program.

Compensation and Union Information

Compensation is $20.30 per hour according to the collective agreement. This is a unionized role affiliated with the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE).
