Job overview
This role is responsible for bringing advanced technical expertise to the design, maintenance, and support of programs that satisfy both internal and external client requirements. You will help shape and lead project-level solutions across the full range of statistical programming work, while acting as a technical point of contact within the Statistical Programming team.
Core responsibilities
- Design, run, test, and document programs that generate statistical tables, figures, and listings.
- Create analysis databases and derived datasets, and coordinate data transfers for internal and external clients.
- Carry out database quality checks and validation tasks when needed.
- Combine databases from multiple studies or other data sources.
- Prepare and maintain programming documentation such as plans and specifications.
- Offer advanced technical support to internal and external stakeholders and independently deliver project solutions to teams and the department.
- Design, introduce, implement, and validate new processes, technologies, macros, and applications.
- Perform responsibilities at the level of a statistical team lead for individual studies, under supervision.
- Interpret the project scope of work, estimate completed effort, and track work that falls outside scope for single studies.
- May handle budgets and resource planning, including revenue and resource forecasts for individual studies.
- May also need to work with budgeting and quotation assumptions.
- Support team development by training, mentoring, and guiding junior and newly joined staff.
Qualifications
The role requires one of the following: a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
Candidates should have knowledge of statistics, programming, and/or the clinical drug development process. Working knowledge of computing tools such as Base SAS, SAS/STAT, and SAS Macro Language is required. Strong organization, people skills, leadership, and communication abilities are important, along with the capacity to manage several tasks and projects at once. High accuracy, strong attention to detail, and the ability to build effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients are also needed.
