About the Company
This contractor supports leading Indian oil and gas companies such as ONGC, OIL INDIA, and CAIRN Energy with automation solutions, including fire and gas detection systems and SCADA. They also offer heavy engineering fabrication in mild and stainless steel, aiding pipeline and structural projects. Emphasizing safety, reliability, and operational efficiency, the company's projects demand adherence to strict industry and regulatory standards.
Role Overview
The Spill Response Commander position is a full-time, on-site role based in Uganda. The role involves leading response efforts for oil and chemical spills in industrial and field settings, overseeing spill evaluation, containment, and cleanup processes while ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Key Duties
- Direct spill response teams during emergency situations.
- Conduct risk assessments and establish action plans.
- Maintain readiness through regular drills, training sessions, and equipment checks.
- Coordinate with site management, regulatory authorities, and local stakeholders.
- Prepare comprehensive incident reports.
- Support ongoing improvement of emergency response and spill prevention protocols.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in emergency response, incident command, or hazardous materials management in oil, gas, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Thorough understanding of containment, cleanup methods, and environmental regulations for oil and chemical spills.
- Skilled in risk assessment, safety planning, and operation of spill response equipment such as booms, skimmers, personal protective equipment, and monitoring devices.
- Strong leadership abilities to effectively coordinate multi-disciplinary response teams under critical time constraints.
- Proficient in clear written and verbal communication for documentation and stakeholder coordination.
- Willingness and ability to work on-site in Uganda, including remote and difficult environments, with flexible shifts.
- Possession of relevant certifications in HAZMAT, health and safety, or incident command is advantageous.
- Preferred background in engineering, environmental science, safety management, or related disciplines.
